Introduction
FindIt ("we", "us", or "our") builds tools that help you find things you've seen before — using a wearable camera and AI-powered search. Because this involves capturing images from your daily life, including GPS location data, we take your privacy seriously.
This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, how we protect it, and what rights you have over it. We've written it in plain English — no legalese.
Information We Collect
When you use FindIt, we collect the following types of information:
- Account information — your email address, provided via Clerk authentication.
- Captured images — photos taken by your wearable or mobile camera through the FindIt app.
- Location and time metadata — GPS coordinates and timestamps attached to each captured image.
- Device identifiers — a unique ID associated with your camera device, used to sync your captures.
- AI embeddings — CLIP-based vector representations generated from your images to enable search. These are derived from your images but are not human-readable.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect solely to provide and improve the FindIt service:
- Enabling you to search your visual history using natural language queries.
- Deduplicating and filtering captured frames to keep only meaningful images.
- Associating your captures with your account so only you can access them.
- Communicating with you about your account or service updates.
We do not sell your data. We do not use your images or personal information for advertising.
Data Retention
- Captured images and embeddings — automatically deleted after 30 days from the date of capture.
- Account data — retained for as long as your account is active. Deleting your account removes all associated data.
- GPS and timestamp metadata — deleted on the same schedule as the images they belong to.
Data Security
We take the security of your data seriously:
- All data is transmitted using TLS 1.2 or higher.
- Images and embeddings are stored with server-side access controls — only you can retrieve your data.
- Authentication is handled by Clerk, a dedicated identity provider with its own security certifications.
No system is perfectly secure. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately at hello@findit.cam.
Third-Party Services
FindIt uses the following third-party service that may receive your personal data:
- Clerk — handles authentication and stores your email address. See Clerk's Privacy Policy for details.
We do not use third-party analytics or advertising services. No tracking cookies are set on this website.
Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Access — request a copy of the data we hold about you.
- Rectification — ask us to correct inaccurate account information.
- Deletion — delete your account at any time. This permanently removes all your images, metadata, embeddings, and account data.
- Portability — request an export of your data in a portable format.
These rights apply to users in the European Union (GDPR) and California (CCPA), among other jurisdictions. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at hello@findit.cam.
Children's Privacy
FindIt is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we will notify you by email. Continued use of FindIt after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
